Shinan achieved his first degree black belt in the 1950s, and has been mastering his skills ever since. Shinan’s roots span well beyond Canada. He was the founder of karate in Iran in the mid-sixties, and trained some of the fiercest combatants at both the Iranian National Police College and the Iranian Armed Forces. Shinan truly has a global reach. He refereed at the World Karate Championships and was awarded more than 50 golds and merits in various national and international competitions within the last two decades alone.
